about

This is a song I wrote in a night, then recorded the following day. Lightning in the Sky is a recurring theme throughout my album, and in the case of this song (and most of the others) it is a direct allusion to God. I'm asking God to show me the way, without reply, repeatedly. The song portrays the many different feelings towards God; desperation, anger, resentment, that I feel, while simultaneously acknowledging that I don't believe God (or a soul) to exist at all.

lyrics

"Lightning in the Sky, tell me where to go, I can't figure it out."
"Lightning in the Sky, I know you been watching my every move."
"Lightning in the Sky, I know you're not real I just described it, my soul's falling I just can't find it."

"Why'd you make me make no sense? Why'd you ever go and make me exist? Why'd you have to be the greatest thing ever thought of, and why am I just me?"

"Nihilism, asceticism, it means nothing to me I'm just an ape who wants to see the stars."
"Pardon me if I'm mistaken, this must happen to you quite a lot. We're all so needy."
"I'm just so lonely, I need somebody, not just anybody, but someone for me. I want to hold them in my arms."

"You can't just say love is the payoff for existence, if everything is free!"
"Do you see the spot I'm in?"
"Do you see the trouble?"
"Is this you showing me the way?"
"You know I'm down with it -down with it -down with it"
"Show me the way."
"Show me the way,"
"Show me the way."
"Show me the way."

"I just wanna know the way sir, can you please point me in the right direction?"
